Phonemic Awareness Practice: Syllable Game Assignment
Objective:
You will practice your phonemic awareness skills by creating a fun and active game that focuses on breaking words into syllables.
Instructions:
- Choose a Theme or Topic: Pick a theme, topic, or story (for example: animals, school, seasons, sports, a book you read, etc.).
- Make a Word List: Create a list of at least 10 multisyllable words (words with two or more syllables) that fit your theme.
- Create a Syllable Game: Design a simple game to help players break words into syllables.
- Use kinesthetic movements like clapping, snapping, stomping, jumping, or skipping to act out the syllables in each word.
- Write a Short Plan: Write a short paragraph (3–5 sentences) explaining how your game works. Include what materials (if any) are needed and how you will use the movements to segment the syllables.
Have fun and get moving with syllables!
