The article "Dante and The Divine Comedy: He took us on a tour of Hell" makes the case that Dante's work influenced much of Western Culture. Answer one of the three questions below. 1) The article makes case that Dante popularized the use of Italian. His dialect dominated the rest of Italy and eventually became modern-day Italian. Consider the world today. What language or languages will dominate in the next 100 years? Why do you think so?
2) Dante places many people in hell that were politicians or church leaders during his time. This created quite the scandal. Consider politicians, religious leaders, and entertainers in the modern culture. If Dante were to write today, who might he place in Hell? You can be honest, but remember, the person you think Dante would place in Hell might be a classmate's hero. But that is sorta the point. Dante placed some people in Hell that were well-known and popular figures.
