Family Literacy Event Assignment
Objective:
You will design a fun and meaningful family literacy event that helps build strong partnerships between home and school.
Instructions:
- Plan a Literacy Event: Think of a fun event that invites families to come together and enjoy reading, writing, or storytelling. (Examples: Family Reading Night, Book Picnic, Storytime & Snacks, Reading Buddies, etc.)
- Include These Details in Your Plan (you can create a flyer or type this up in a Word doc):
- Name of your event
- Where it will take place (classroom, library, gym, outdoors, etc.)
- Activities that will happen at the event (reading aloud, writing together, book swap, etc.)
- How families will be invited or involved
- How the event will help support literacy at home
Write a Short Description: In one paragraph, explain what your event is, what will happen, and why it's important for building a connection between home and school.
Be Creative! Add any extra ideas like decorations, take-home activities, or snacks that would make your event fun and welcoming for families.
