Part 2:

Your initial post should be a minimum of 300 words. All initial posts should have 2 - 3 APA formatted in-text citations and matching references.

Prompt: Read the case study (pp. 435-442 of Part V “An Ethics Committee Meeting”) in the Handbook for Health Care Ethics Committees. Note that the case study includes several parts, but your goal is to review the section that addresses obligations of healthcare professionals to deal with very difficult circumstances that require personal sacrifice. The committee’s case study involves an individual patient where the staff was able to plan and avoid risk. The committee then begins to distinguish this from major disasters, such as a bioterrorism event, mass attack, or outbreak.

In your initial post, discuss the following:

  • How would a discussion of personal sacrifice in a major disaster differ from the case study?
  • What ethical theories and principles do you anticipate the ethics committee using?
  • What recommendations could the ethics committee make to organizational leadership?

Your posts should include at least 2-3 references. Remember to use the APA style for in-text citations and references.

Your initial post should be a minimum of 300 words. All initial posts should have 2 - 3 APA formatted in-text citations and matching references. Place references at the end of your post under the heading “References

Prompt: Before writing your answer, reflect upon the role of policy and law in healthcare and review the required readings, focusing on Chapter 1 in Essentials of Health Policy and Law. You initial post will consist of two parts:

  1. Review the Three Conceptual Frameworks (see the image in this week’s introduction page) for studying health law and policy. Which do you think is the most applicable to healthcare today? Explain your reasoning using examples from current events, professional experience, or scholarly articles.
  2. Think about the role of regulation as it relates to your experience in healthcare. You may use your experience as a healthcare professional or from the patient perspective. Do you think the United States healthcare system is overregulated? Or, should we have more regulations at the federal, state, and/or local levels? Note that you will revisit this question at the end of the course!

Your posts should include at least 2-3 references. Remember to use the APA style for in-text citations and references.
