Overview
Multisensory Lesson: Oral Language Assignment
Objective:
You will design a fun, hands-on lesson that uses real-world objects (manipulatives) to help young children build oral language skills through talking and sharing ideas.
Instructions:
- Choose a Topic or Theme: Pick a topic that is interesting and age-appropriate for young children (for example: seasons, animals, food, transportation, community helpers, etc.).
- Pick Your Manipulatives: Choose real objects that children can touch and explore related to your theme (examples: toy animals, fruits, leaves, tools, clothing items, etc.).
- Create the Lesson Activity: Plan a simple, fun activity that gets children talking! Your activity should encourage them to describe, compare, ask questions, or share ideas using the objects.
- Write a Short Lesson Plan: In a few sentences, include:
- The topic
- The manipulatives used
- What the children will do
- How the activity will encourage oral language and discussion
