Overview
In both Crash Course Religions #8 and the Hebrew Bible excerpts (Genesis 1–2, Exodus 20), we see themes of creation, covenant, and law.
In Genesis 1–2, it presents two different creation accounts. One emphasizes order and structure, the other emphasizes relationship and intimacy.
In Exodus 20, it introduces the Ten Commandments, a blend of ritual devotion and ethical responsibility.
Finally, in Crash Course #8 they highlight Judaism’s covenantal identity and the role of practice in shaping community.
For your blog I would like for you to choose one of these themes (creation, covenant, or law) and reflect on:
- How does the material present this theme, and why might it matter for understanding Judaism?
- How do you personally relate to this theme? For example, how might creation stories, community agreements, or shared laws shape the way people live together today?
