Copy a brief portion of a researched source that you have chosen to use to support one of the claims in your essay. Then summarize this portion of the source.
How to Proceed
- Choose a 4-5 sentences/a brief paragraph from a potentially usable source that supports a claim in your essay.
- Copy and paste the sentences/paragraph so that there's an exact copy at the start. Use quotations around the copied portion.
- Summarize that information into 1-2 sentences. Make sure to use your own words and sentence structure to convey only the main idea of the copied text. (In the process of creating the summary to submit, you may find that you need to revise the summary a few times to make the words and sentence structure your own.)
- Add an attribution at the start of the summary.
- Add an in-text citation at the end.
- Submit your assignment as a Microsoft Word document.
