Your Week 4 assignment requires you to add the following slides.
- Referral Behavior Goal and Data Collection Method.
- Referral Behavior Intervention.
- Data Display.
- Progress and Next Steps.
- Referral Behavior Intervention Plan, Data, and Progress.
- Replacement Behavior Label, Goal, and Data Collection Method.
- Replacement Behavior Intervention Plan, Data Display, and Progress.
- References.
You are advised to begin working on your Week 4 assignment and use the course discussions to share your plans and thoughts on the topics you will be presenting on, and take advantage of comments and feedback from your peers and/or instructor.
Read the assignment instructions and rubric carefully before starting work on your assignment to ensure that you meet all criteria.
In Week 8, you will be presenting a mock case study to your supervising BCBA. The slides should be short phrases or sentences as bullet points to cover the evaluation of the first six months of your treatment plan. You were provided a referral behavior and assigned function in Week 1 by your instructor.
In this week’s assignment, you will be focusing on the second part of the presentation. For Part 2, the slide deck requirements are:
- Referral Behavior Goal and Data Collection Method.
- Referral Behavior Intervention.
- Data Display.
- Progress and Next Steps.
- Referral Behavior Intervention Plan, Data, and Progress.
- Replacement Behavior Label, Goal, and Data Collection Method.
- Replacement Behavior Intervention Plan, Data Display, and Progress.

Important Notes:
- No audio recording is needed for the Week 4 assignment.
- Review the rubric and assignment instructions to ensure all required aspects are covered
- Continue using the provided Presentation Slide Template [PPTX].
- Remember, you are acting as the supervisor but reporting to your supervising BCBA since you are not yet certified.
Instructions
Questions
- The purpose of the Week 4 submission is to get feedback on your content for the second part of the presentation. Include each section detailed below in your Slide Deck of Client Progress - Part
- In Week 8, you will combine Parts 1, 2, and 3 to create the full presentation and record your audio to present.
Reminder: Your presentation should be bullet points outlining the key areas you’ll discuss. Avoid long paragraphs. Audio will be added in Week 8 to elaborate on the bullet points. Audio is NOT required for this week’s assignment.
Referral Behavior Goal and Data Collection Method (1 Slide):
- Provide the outcome criteria related specifically to your assigned referral behavior.
- The goal is to label all components of behavior change that would need to be met for services to be considered “complete” and start fading.
- Cite at least one BACB ethical code.
- Provide the data collection method for the referral behavior.
- State the specific type of data that was used to track the referral behavior.
- Ensure that your data collection method matches the criterion from your goal.
- Consider how you will visually display this data (for later in the slides).
- Cite BACB ethical code and scholarly source to support your choice.
Referral Behavior Intervention Plan, Data, and Progress (3–5 slides):
- Briefly outline intervention procedures that were used related to the referral behavior. Remember this intervention has been in place for six months and was already approved by your supervising BCBA prior to starting services. Provide a brief summary of the strategies used. Details of changes or shifts in implementation will be outlined. Include:
- The antecedent strategy used. Details related to changes within the strategy (i.e., interval length changes, material changes, etc.) should be highlighted.
- The consequent strategy used. Details related to changes within the strategy (i.e., interval length changes, reinforcer thinning, etc.) should be highlighted.
- Label the strategy used in response to the referral behavior. How did you train your team to react in times when the referral behavior does occur?
- Label the strategy used to reinforce the replacement behavior you taught. Do not go into detail regarding how you taught the replacement behavior in this section—you are only focused on the reinforcement strategy.
- Note: When choosing consequent strategies, we are not accepting any punishment-based procedures outside of response blocking.
- Provide six months of intervention data, including a visual display, related to the referral behavior with a bulleted description of what the graph means.
- Graphical display must include baseline data and intervention data for all sessions conducted in the 6-month period.
- Description will include label of baseline trend/variability and intervention trend and variability. You will also outline any other aspects that may be necessary.
- Outline current progress toward the referral behavior goal and next steps related to changing this referral behavior.
- Label the outcome criteria/goal as “In Progress” or “Met” and ensure that this label is supported by your graphical display of the data.
- Provide recommendations for the referral behavior intervention from this point. Will you continue with the current intervention? Will you start to generalize? Will you begin fading the intervention? Support your choice with your data and scholarly resources.
- Cite scholarly references to support the interventions, data methods, and clinical recommendations you provided. Each area/slide is required to have at least one scholarly source, but some slides will need to include more than one. For example, if you list three separate interventions, you should cite three separate scholarly, behavior analytic articles. For example, Premack, DRA, Blocking would each need a supporting scholarly source. Use the MS in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Research Guide: More Search Tips for help searching the library for behavior analytic intervention articles.
- Adhere to, and cite, specific BACB Ethics Codes related to choosing interventions. At least one BACB ethical code citation is required. Adhere to compassionate practice and cite the Capella Compassion Code [PDF] when appropriate
Replacement Behavior Label, Goal, and Data Collection Method (1 slide):
- Label the functionally equivalent replacement behavior that was taught.
- Needs to be a specific behavior the client can engage in instead of the assigned referral behavior, but still gain the same or similar function.
- Provide the intervention used to teach the replacement behavior. This section is not where you label the specific reinforcement strategy. Instead, you are stating the procedures you used to teach your client a new skill so that you can provide reinforcement.
- Provide the data collection method for the replacement behavior.
- State the specific type of data that was used to track the replacement behavior.
- Ensure that your data collection method matches the criterion from your goal.
- Consider how you will visually display this data (for later in the slides).
- Cite BACB ethical code and scholarly source to support your choice.
Replacement Behavior Intervention Plan, Data Display, and Progress (3–5 slides):

Note that your teaching strategy has to be different from your antecedent strategy. Include:
- Specific prompt types or levels used within the teaching strategy listed.
- Changes in implementation (including prompt level) over 6 months
- Provide six months of intervention data, including a visual display, related to the replacement behavior with a bulleted description of what the graph means. Include:

- Provide recommendations for this behavior intervention from this point. Will you continue with the current intervention? Will you start to generalize? Will you begin fading the intervention? Support your choice with your data and scholarly support.
- Cite scholarly references to support the interventions, data methods, and clinical recommendations you provided. Each area/slide is required to have at least one scholarly source, but some slides will need to include more than one.
- Adhere to and cite specific BACB Ethics Codes related to choosing interventions. At least one BACB ethical code citation is required. Adhere to compassionate practice and cite the Capella Compassion Code [PDF] when appropriate
