Assignment Rationale: The purpose of this assignment is to bring awareness of or increase awareness to various products and items that are considered assistive technology (AT) devices formally; as well as simple everyday objects that may informally be considered as (AT) devices. Students will consider how AT devices and everyday objects can benefit ALL students in a classroom and not just students with disabilities.
Steps in the Collaborative Project:
- Brightspace automatically assigns students into groups of 4-5 students.
- Determine the group leader by selecting the individual who is the tallest in the group.
- The group meets to assign/determine who will complete which device, making sure that each member has 4 Assistive Tech devices and 4 Everyday Objects. That is 8 objects total, 4 tech devices and 4 everyday objects per group member. However, when combined in groups of 4, you will have a total of 16 tech devices and 16 objects per group.
- Use the template below for each of the items you are assigned. You can place this information in a shared slides file or in a word document. Place your name on the items you discuss. Each item must use only one slide or one sheet of “paper”. Make it brief and helpful to classmates.
- To make this simple, please review these resources: a webpage in this module of Brightspace, a Template in Word or a PowerPoint template. The group can determine whether you will work in a regular office document or if you prefer a slide deck.
