Overview
The purpose of the intervention planning assignment is to provide an opportunity to practice and demonstrate your ability to plan an occupation-based intervention session for a client. Create a written intervention plan that includes direct and indirect intervention strategies. I have briefly started this assignment and here is information about the child that you'll need, in order to be consistent across all documentation.
Background information:
- The client lives at home with his mother, father and two younger brothers. The middle child is two years old and the youngest is 6 months old. Developmentally, mom reported that Basit met most of his milestones, but motor and speech were delayed in some areas. Basit did not begin walking until about 16 months. His speech also developed later than expected. He began speaking words at 18 months and started putting words together closer to 3 years old. Because dad often works weekends in addition to during the week, mom tends to loosely translate Basit’s sentences to dad and is the one that understands him the most. He recently started kindergarten and has been reported to process information a little slower than his peers. If he is given multiple directions at once, he usually forgets part of the information. The child is a 5yr old boy with challenges with sensory processing and cognition. NOT MAJOR CHALLENGES, just mild. He tends to either do things too fast or too slow. Sustaining attention is sometimes difficult and he'll often need verbal cueing from mom to get back on track. He recently started kindergarten and has trouble following multistep directions. He had a speech delay, but he is audibly understandable.
The file that says template is what I have started. The words in blue are the description. Feel free to enhance, correct or add to anything I have written. If you do not have access please reach out to me. Use the grading rubric to make sure all points are being addressed and the pediatric intervention plan FINAL doc is an example to reference of a completed plan.
