Prompt: The first step in writing a policy analysis is to clearly define the problem you are analyzing. For your initial post (and in preparation for Assignment 1 Part 2) complete the following:
- Prepare: Research healthcare related policy issues, papers, and/or policy briefings issued by a professional organization. You can use one listed in Resources or an issue relevant to your professional goals or experience.
- Discuss: In your post, address the following:
- Clearly define the problem you are analyzing. NOTE: A problem identification should be succinct and written in the form of a question that identifies the problem addressed in the analysis.
- Identify and describe your client (organization you selected) and their values.
- Explain why you selected your problem for analysis.
Your posts should include at least 2-3 references. Remember to use the APA style for in-text citations and references.

Assignment 1 Part 2: Health Policy Analysis
INSTRUCTIONS
Write a 4-5 page analysis (not counting the title page and references) using the APA format that includes the following sections (based on the Checklist for Writing a Policy Analysis content page):
- Problem Identification: Your problem should be one sentence long and in the form of a question, reflect the focus of the problem, and identify at least 3 options to solve the problem.
- Background: Your background should include factual and relevant information presented in a professional tone.
- Landscape: Your landscape should identify key stakeholders and include their views that are clear and accurate; it also should include other relevant information necessary to assess options. The information is presented in a professional tone.
- Options: include at least two options that directly address the issue identified in the problem identification section. These options are sufficiently different from each other and each is evaluated in terms of pros and cons. Options that are in the power of the client are identified as well.
- A recommendation based on the shared options. The section includes an explanation why it is the best option despite its flaws.
Be sure to review Chapter 14 in Essentials of Health Policy and Law and the Checklist for Writing a Policy Analysis as a guide for developing your analysis!
