For this assignment, you will propose an instructional design unit to address a performance problem that can be addressed by training/instruction. Your unit should be 20-60 minutes long and include formative (e.g., practice questions or brief knowledge checks that aren't necessarily for a grade) and summative (e.g., end of unit graded) assessments. Select a topic in which you are a subject matter expert.

Please note for this assignment, all writing should be in APA 7 format such as the title page with running head, headers, tables, and references (if needed). You may NOT use any version of artificial intelligence for this project. It is important that you experience this entire process.

Your Instructional Design Proposal should include the following components: The proposal should be about teachers struggling to use interactive technology effectively

  • Overview - Describes the instructional unit to be developed, including what problem was voiced and who voiced it. Identifies the intended outcomes of the unit to be developed. Describes how instruction will be deployed, including: format (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid), length, and assessment type. (Approximately 150-300 words)
  • Statement of Need - Provides rationale for the unit by describing the relationship between the problem and performance outcomes. Differentiates between instructional and non-instructional solutions to the problem (e.g., additional resources that need to be addressed). (Approximately 150-300 words)
  • Target Audience - Describes learners (target audience) who would need to complete the unit or be interested in completing the unit. (Approximately 100 words)
  • Learning Objectives - Lists what the learners will know or do after completing the unit. For each learning objective, please see the "How Bloom’s works with learning objectives" section of this webpage and this information on SMART goals. Include at least three specific and measurable learning objectives.
  • Needs Assessment Participants - Describes the needs assessment participant population and how they will be accessed to administer the needs assessment survey. Identifies at least 5 participants, including names and other pertinent information. (Approximately 150-400 words; pseudonyms are welcome.) FYI: Looking ahead, you will have to actually conduct/administer the exact needs assessment you describe in this Module 1 assignment and deliver the results in the Needs Assessment and Instructional Analysis - Due End of Module 3.
