Write a discussion (answer the questions)

Overview

In order to begin working on your portfolio, choose a process within your organization to discuss. Create a task analysis for the process as it currently runs today. Who does each step? Are there any gaps or inefficiencies based on your perspective?

When looking at your peer's task analyses, do you see any steps that might be missing or anything that is unclear?

You are not working on the portfolio now its juts for you to know on what we will be working for the next week:

Looking ahead: Project Portfolio

After module 5, you will have everything that you need to begin working on your final project!

To demonstrate competency in this course, you will be required to submit a small portfolio demonstrating your ability to utilize some of the tools discussed throughout this course.

  1. A Total Performance System/Supersystem map for an organization of your choice. All sections should be filled out to the best of your ability. You can use the template as provided hereDownload here, or create one yourself.
  2. A cross-functional process map for a process of your choosing. Please include at least 3 different departments/functions/swimlanes, a minimum of 10 steps, and at least 1 decision point. You can use any program you'd like to create the map - I recommend diagrams.net (which embeds into google drive), LucidChart (which is free with a .edu email), or creating it within powerpoint using the various shapes and arrows (this is difficult, but doable!)
  3. Choose one task/performer level tool to try (templates can be found online, and examples have been shown throughout the course and in the references):
  • A Gantt chart for a time-based process (minimum of 5 steps)
  • A RACI/Responsibility matrix (minimum of 5 steps/tasks)
  • A job model for a performer (minimum of 5 job tasks/outputs)

These can each be submitted as a single document, or as individual document submissions. Images and tables can be pasted as screenshots into Word if needed.

There are no wrong answers here (other than academic misconduct or not trying, of course); we just want to see you try to use the tools!

This portfolio will be submitted during the final module of the course, so do not delay in beginning to work on these tasks!
