BSC Nutritional supplements for weight loss

Overview

Many nutritional supplements are available in the market, and claim to have beneficial effects in weight loss.   Americans spend about $2 billion a year on weight-loss dietary supplements.  While there are many pills out there that claim to be metabolism boosters, do any actually work?

A review study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition looked at 11 supplements that are used for weight loss.  Nine of the 11 supplements that were reviewed (including pyruvate, yohimbine and Garcinia cambogia) did not appear to be convincing for burning fat.  Other supplements that show weight loss potential are not without side effects.  Messages like “magic diet pill!” “melt your fat away!” and “lose weight without diet or exercise!” that sound too good to be true usually are.

Do you think nutritional supplements for weight loss are effective?  Are they safe?

What do you think is the most effective way to lose weight?
