UCI IFN Gamma Question

Overview

I'm working on a biology multi-part question and need the explanation and answer to help me learn.

Here is the interferon gamma signaling cascade. (Picture attached)

21.1 What molecules will be the most abundant when interferon (IFN) gamma binds the receptor and the cascade is activated?

A) phosphorylated STAT 1

B) STAT 1

C) JAK1

D) IFNGR1 and IFNGR2

21.2 Ruxolitinib is an inhibitor of the interferon gamma signaling cascade. It functions by inhibiting JAK1 and JAK2 activity, but not their abundance. If cells are treated with Ruxolitinib, select all molecules that will decrease.

A) JAK1

B) phosphorylated STAT 1

C) IFNGR1 and IFNGR2

D) STAT1

E) IRF1 in the nucleus
