Overview
Assignment 1 In this assignment, you will apply what you learned about the scientific method to evaluate the validity of two different health claims about the common cold. There are three file attachments for this assignment. There you will find and access the GetAnAnswerNow.com posting, a scientific article about zinc's effect on colds, and the word document for you to complete the assignment. Part 1 - Compare Articles First, go through Hemila 2011, a published scientific paper, and the GetAnAnswerNow.com health claim, which is a fictional posting on the internet. As you read each one, fill out the table on the word document under part 1. Part 2 - Personal Response to the Articles. You will respond with how you feel about how/if these articles used the scientific method. Your answer should be a paragraph of approximately 5 sentences in length or longer. Make sure that you respond completely to each of the three questions asked. A complete response is thoughtful, supported by observations from the table, related back to the scientific method, and grammatically correct. Submission of the assignment During completion of the assignment in Word, please bold, highlight, or change the color of your text to help distinguish your answers from the questions. To submit the assignment, save the completed Word document on your computer. Please upload it as a Word (.docx) document to the assignment dropbox titled "Evaluating Health Claims."
