Overview
Students will create a fact sheet that provides a detailed overview of the metabolic process (not photosynthesis or cellular respiration) that is likely being inhibited by the toxic chemical METHYLMERCURY causing the fish deaths. This will be a one-page document. It must:
Organism and type of cells where this occurs and/or affects
- The overall function of the process
Major way(s) this process if regulated/controlled
Identification of one major enzyme that is involved
- The gene that codes for the enzyme
- The function of the enzyme
- Method of controlling the enzyme
- What happens when the process is inhibited/does not function
