Overview
Students sometimes have difficulty learning biological topics and concepts. Now that you have taken your first exam, what are some of the difficulties you are having with learning biology? What might be some reasons for this? What do you feel you could do to overcome these issues? Are there any strategies you could suggest?
Consider and discuss how you may use the following metacognitive ideas:
- Apply newly acquired biology concepts to different contexts (particularly as it pertains to daily life)
- Establishing links between new topics and old ones (thus enabling you to see the "big picture")
- Construct your own knowledge about a concept by designing an experiment, watching a video, solving a question you pose, or coming up with a demonstration
- Rubric:
- Should includes more than 2 personal or professional experiences. Demonstrates excellent critical thinking skills through multiple examples and ideas. Excellent discussion of course readings or other resources (if appropriate).
- Information is exceptionally well organized; spelling and grammar are correct and complete sentences are used. Proper citations are effectively used.
