- Assignment: Submit a prescription for the appropriate cardiovascular agent for the below sample patient to Canvas. In order to correctly complete this assignment, you must use the "JNC 8 Algorithm": JNC-8 Algorithm treatment guidelines for hypertension. First, choose the correct cardiovascular drug classification according to the guidelines. Next, choose the specific drug agent you will prescribe within that classification. Then, watch the Writing Prescriptions video on this module to learn the necessary components of writing an accurate prescription. Last, complete your prescription manually by printing the "sample prescription pad" pdf below and writing it out or editing it as a PDF document directly on your computer. To edit directly on your computer, you must download the document first and then hit the markup icon at the top of the document. Whichever way you choose to fill out the prescription, you must fill out all required areas of the prescription pad and upload your completed prescription to Canvas for submission. In lieu of a DEA #, use your RN license number. In the role of a licensed provider, all areas of the prescription must be completed for you to receive full points.
Sample Patient: 45-year-old, African-American male with a history of type II diabetes mellitus, erectile dysfunction, obesity (BMI =38), and current blood pressure of 155/89 in the office. No other remarkable findings or history. The chief complaint is fatigue.
