Primary Literature Summary

Overview

Your assignment is to read the research article Ancient DNA reveals elephant birds and kiwi are sister taxa and clarifies ratite bird evolution by Kieren J. Mitchell, et al., and to write a summary of the article. A link to the article is in the Content folder on the class Blackboard page.

The summary should include:

A statement of the hypothesis or question being asked;

Background material (from the article) on research about this topic;

A brief description of the types of methods used in the article;

A summary of the data collected;

An interpretation of the data and conclusions that can be drawn from the data;

A summary statement about the initial hypothesis/question and whether it has been

supported by the data.

Your paper should be based on this article alone. Do not look up other articles to add to the summary. Your paper must be original writing. Quotes are not used in science writing.
