the slides of the final project proposal

Overview

Can you write the speech draft and make the slides of my presentation.

Topic: Basic Function of CRISPR/Ca9 Genome Editing Technique

The video will address the basic function of new genome editing techniques, particularly the CRISPR/Cas9 system. The topic will be covering a scholarly audience who understand biology and genetics. The topic will discuss a more complex biological aspect compared to the general information that anybody can understand.

The Storyboard

Introduction (0-15 seconds)

Before discussing the topic, music will be played to engage the audience and create a calm atmosphere where the audience will relax. Engaging visuals and music will set the tone, capturing viewers' attention and sparking interest in genome editing. The speaker(me) will make an acquaintance and greet the audience.

CRISPR/Cas9 Definition (15-30 seconds)

The video will briefly define CRISPR/Cas9, followed by an animation sequence of the genome for easy identification. The next explanation will elaborate on how CRISPR/Cas9 is a revolutionary genome editing tool, highlighting the importance of genetic modifications.

Comparison with Traditional Methods (30-45 seconds)

The video will visually compare CRISPR/Cas9 and traditional genome editing methods.

Mechanism of CRISPR/Cas9 (45-60 seconds)

The video will provide a step-by-step process of CRISPR/Cas9 on the molecular level. This will make the explanation easy to understand, especially when the video uses a whiteboard animation.

Applications of CRISPR/Cas9 (60-75 seconds)

Case studies from real-life gene editing on cancer patients will be provided with examples from medical breakthroughs and agricultural achievements. This approach will enable the audience to understand better how gene editing occurs, especially when using the CRISPR/Cas9 technique.

Ethical Considerations (75-90 seconds)

The video will briefly discuss the ethical implications of genome editing, emphasizing the importance of responsible use and considering potential consequences.

Interviews (90-120 seconds)

The video will test individual understanding of CRISPR/Cas9 and, at the same time, have a qualitative measure of the topic and how it can impact the general public.

Information and Quotes

  • The video will have evidence and backup from reliable educational material
  • A quote from a renowned scientific scholar will be included, shedding light on both the applications and ethical considerations of genome editing, like Jennifer Doudna and Emmanuelle Charpentier, who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2020.

The intended audience of the video

The video is intended for the general adult public with a limited biology background. It will provide complex concepts that will be involved, and only individuals with biological knowledge and interest, especially genetics, will be able to participate comprehensively.

Format of the video

The video's format will rely on the dynamic combination of animated sequences, whiteboard animations, and interviews. The video seeks to cater to diverse learning preferences and maintain viewer interest.

Logistics and Materials

  • Video editing will be done using iMovie or Illinois Media Space.
  • Animation software will be employed for whiteboard animations.
  • There will be access to a camera for conducting interviews.
  • Forms will be released to prepare for individuals participating in interviews.
  • Cited sources include textbook information and a quote from a reliable scientific scholar.

Anticipated Roadblocks

  • Technical challenges in animation creation may arise, requiring an alternative solution like having two or more video-making software.
  • Scheduling interviews may be challenging due to the availability of interviewees or being turned down due to privacy. I will, therefore, need to plan and be flexible.
  • Ensuring accuracy and clarity in information presentation may pose difficulties.
  • Potential ethical concerns from interview participants will be handled with sensitivity and respect.
