For Paper #1, include the six steps of the scientific method of inquiry to summarize a peer-reviewed paper of your choice which you will select. The peer review paper must be an experiment and not a review article. Please include the following in your write-up (w/headings similar to your peer-reviewed article): a. Observation(s): This section should include a couple of sentences describing what the authors observed prior to the experiment. In other words, why did the authors perform the experiment? What did they observe that made them want to conduct the experiment? (2 points) b. Objective(s): Provide 1-3 bullet points of the aims of the experiment performed and what the authors wanted to accomplish. (2 points) c. Hypothesis/Question: This should be 1 sentence statement(s) describing a tentative explanation of the observed phenomena. You may include question(s) to be answered if you like. (3 points) d. Materials and Methods: Provide a 1-2 paragraph detailed description of the experiment and how the authors achieved their results in your own words. The level of detail you provide must be enough that a random person could perform the experiment without any problems. (10 points) e. Results: Provide a 2-3 paragraph description of the actual outcomes of the experiment. What were the actual results? Please do not include any tables or graphs in this write-up. (5 points) f. Discussion/Conclusion: Provide a 2-3 paragraph statement reflecting the outcomes of the study and whether the results supported or did not support the researchers’ hypothesis. You should include any ideas of why/how the authors’ results supported/did not support their hypothesis and potential future studies that can be performed. Include what you, as a researcher, would change about the experiment and end your paper with a final concluding remark. (*Spend the most time thinking about this section, as it is worth 15 points) g. Proper format and a link to publication (3 points)
