Writing Assignment
As this is a Gordon Rule course, students are required to submit written work. You will be required to write a 1500 word essay on a topic related to biology. To complete this assignment do the following:
Find a news article that relates to biology and to one of the topics that you have studied so far.. This can be almost anything that interests you, but it must be related to biology and related to one of the topics you have learned about so far in this course.
The following are some sources that can provide a good selection of news articles. You are not required to use these sources, they are just suggested.

Now that you have chosen an article you are ready to begin writing. Open up your word document and outline your paper as follows:
Provide about 3-4 paragraphs summarizing your article. Be sure you are paraphrasing in your own words and not using any AI, the detection software will pick this up and you will receive a grade of zero for the assignment. There may be additional penalties as well.
Provide a paragraph or 2 that discusses why you chose this topic; and how & what information you have learned in this course relates to the article you chose.
Now that you have an understanding of your topic, you are required to choose an additional article that is related to the first.
Provide 3-4 paragraphs summarizing the second article. Be sure you are paraphrasing in your own words and not using any AI, the detection software will pick this up and you will receive a grade of zero for the assignment. There may be additional penalties as well.
Provide a paragraph or 2 that discusses why you chose this topic; and how & what information you have learned in this course relates to the article you chose.
Provide 1 or 2 concluding paragraphs that ties both articles together.
Use the word count function on your word processor to check you have written at least 1500 words. If you are struggling to generate content, you may pick an additional (3rd) article. However do not chose more that a total of 3.
