The effect of socio-economic status on the development and treatment of cancer.

Research on the effect of socio-economic status on the development and treatment of cancer. Use 2 scientific journals to create the post. Ask a curios question as a title and start an engaging discussion with other students.

Use the 2-3 open access scientific journals to create the post.

Use the following example as a guide:

Do lower-income families have a higher risk of cancer?

According to Poverty as a Risk Factor in Human Cancers, “Due to their limited financial resources, the poor are recurrently subjected to environmental risks due to unavailability of suitable housing, are less well nourished, have less knowledge, and are less able to access health care and appropriate insurance.” (Pg. 2) Lower-income families have an increased risk of developing cancers based on a lack of access to necessities such as strong food sources, access to health care, availability of better housing, and limited knowledge of cancer risks.

A study article, An umbrella review of socioeconomic status and cancer, states “Multiple levels of evidence, both Class I and Class II, indicate an association between lower SES and a higher incidence of lung, hepatocellular, and oropharyngeal cancer.” (Pg. 6) This shows that, because of the circumstances of lower-income families, they have a higher risk of developing several types of cancers and a lower chance of receiving the cancer treatments they deserve due to financial troubles. It is also difficult because it was found that 59,662 individuals who are from lower socioeconomic regions have the worst overall rate of cancer survival for all types of leukemia. This goes to show that, compared to middle-class and upper-class families, lower-income families are more likely to have a higher risk of cancer.

I ponder the differences between middle-class and upper-class families when it comes to cancer development based on socioeconomic status. What are the differences between cancer development/treatment in lower-class families and upper-class families?
