Plant and Animal Cells are more complicated than most people realize and it can take some work to learn both the names and functions of the different organelles and other structures that make up a cell. Playing this game is a good learning tool because it asks you to practice what you have been studying as well as providing help when needed.
Go to the Cell Anatomy Viewer GameLinks to an external site.
You should first just explore the site, reading the introduction and instructions on "How to Play".
If you have not studied the plant and animal organelles and structures yet, next click on "Play" and then click on "Play" again under "Explore" at the top. Click on each organelle and read about it for both Plant and Animal Cells (you can also explore bacterial and fungal cells if you want but this is not needed for the current assignment).
TO TURN IN:
To earn extra credit points, you will play and submit results from 2 "games", one for plant cells and one for animal cells. Pay attention to the specific settings you need to use in order to get the extra credit for these 2 games.
1. Animal Cell: Go to the "Cell Parts ID Game".
- Select Cell Type = Animal
- Select Difficulty = Expert
- Select Choose to Display = Clue (Make sure ONLY clue is selected, NOT both clue and name)
When you finish, type your name in the "optional" box and click on "Print Summary"
It should look like the screenshot below with date at top, settings, your name, and accuracy - note, your accuracy is important for your extra credit points.
Take a screenshot of that page to submit.
2. Plant Cell: Go back to the "Cell Parts ID Game"
- Select Cell Type = Plant
- Select Difficulty = Expert
- Select Choose to Display = Clue (Make sure ONLY clue is selected, NOT both clue and name)
When you finish, type your name in the "optional" box and click on "Print Summary"
Take a screenshot of that page to submit.
You should have 2 screenshots to submit, one from the animal cell game and one from the plant cell game. I will look to see that the settings are correct so make sure to take the correct screenshots that show that information.
The number of extra credit points you earn (maximum = 3 per game for a total of 6), depends on score and % accuracy.
Note that you can play the game as many times as you wish until you get both the score and accuracy you want.
