In this task you will look at the direct costs of health care in Ontario. You will be repeating this task for other categories of diseases and will need to refer to it again later in the course.

- Find the table of Direct Costs and then scroll down to diseases of the digestive system.
- Examine only the DIRECT costs (drug, physician care, or hospital care) for all cardiovascular disorders. Record these costs in a way that makes sense for you.
- There is more data lower down in the database that will help you to answer the following questions.

- Which hospital expenditures for gastrointestinal disorders are the greatest cost?
- Which sex accounts for the largest portion of various direct costs for gastrointestinal disease?
- How do various direct costs of gastrointestinal diseases change for different age groups?
- Based on this data, what two recommendations would you have for a way to reduce the direct costs of health care? Explain your recommendations.
