The first thing you have to do for the assignment is select a company that is based in Oman, and then answer the following four questions.
Based on the company that you chose, the first one is to give a general description of the chosen company. What is the history of the company? Tell me more about the services or products that they offer, and explain the nature of the business — what are the things they are selling, how they are making profits, and so on.
This part carries 10 marks, so don’t make it too short — explain a bit more about the company.
Then, explain the form of business ownership of the selected company and discuss two advantages and two disadvantages of this type of business. We discussed different forms of business organizations in class, such as sole proprietorship and partnership. You need to identify which type applies to your company and then describe its pros and cons in detail — not just in bullet points.
Next, you need to do a SWOT analysis for the chosen company. SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. This part carries 20 marks (10 marks for strengths and weaknesses, and 10 marks for opportunities and threats). You should explain each part clearly, not just list them in short points.
Then, explain in detail any four factors of PESTLE analysis that affect your selected organization. PESTLE stands for Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental factors. You can choose any four that are most relevant to your company — for example, Political, Economic, Technological, and Social.
Finally, you need to complete a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on any topic related to the business environment (such as SWOT analysis, PESTLE analysis, or similar). You can find free courses on websites like Coursera. After completing the course, take a screenshot showing you finished it, attach it at the end of your report, and write a short reflection (no more than 500 words) explaining what you learned, what challenges you faced, and what new skills you gained.
