HEA 610
An effective enrollment strategy considers the needs of the prospective students and the mission, resources, and strategic vision of the institution. The enrollment strategy is the difference between realizing institutional goals or faltering and just surviving. The entire institution rests on meeting enrollment budgets. If the budgets are not met, the ripple effect impacts every corner of the institution and can result in reducing programs, staff, and resources. Enrollment is not just about enrolling new students. Good enrollment strategies consider the entire collegiate experience and plot the path from orientation to graduation.
For this milestone, submit a comprehensive strategic enrollment management plan. Identify the institutional goals that can be realized, with sound enrollment decisions, if your plan is adopted. The strategic enrollment plan must be clearly aligned to the institution’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives. This section of your final project will build on your previous submitted work by expanding the peer analysis, conducting the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threat (SWOT) analysis, identifying key performance indicators (KPI), and a market analysis.
Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:
- Institutional Goals
For each of the institutional goals, create aligned objectives (approximately three objectives per goal) that clearly characterize the plan. Ensure that they align to the institution’s mission and vision. The enrollment objectives should be achievable and inspirational and should push the institution’s strategic vision to a new level. Utilize the following institutional goals:- Goal 1: Enhance marketing, recruitment, and early outreach strategies from initial contact through first-day attendance and first-year persistence.
- Goal 2: Increase the probability of student achievement through the development of early academic and support strategies targeted for the student’s first-year experience.
- Goal 3: Enhance academic programs and support systems in order to improve student persistence and student success.
- Determine the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Determine the KPIs according to your institution’s mission, strategic vision, and resources. Identify the quantifiable measures you will use to gauge the performance of your objectives. Explain why you selected these KPIs. Ensure any relevant external influences, such as state regulations or accrediting agency requirements, are met. Justify how the metrics will be utilized to measure performance. These are common (but not necessarily exhaustive) KPIs for enrollment offices. The KPIs would have specific metrics to meet institutional goals to:- Determine leads, the pool of prospective students who would likely meet admissions requirements.
- Acquire prospective candidate students, the students who show interest in the institution by requesting information or otherwise engage the institution for the purpose of potentially enrolling.
- Engage interested candidate students, the students who submit an application for admission.
- Ensure enrolled candidate students, the students who have met the minimum requirements for admission and who commit to attending, typically with a deposit or a letter of confirmation, but may include attending orientation or other method. Institutional practice determines how these are measured.
- Confirm admitted student starts, the students who report for the first day of class and therefore begin to incur tuition charges.
- Strengthen student persistence, the students who complete the first semester, first year, and beyond.
- Support through graduation, the students who complete a degree of study.
- Measure Your Key Performance Indicators
Provide appropriate data to measure your KPIs and analyze the results with regard to goals (planned vs. actual).

HEA 540 ASSIGNMENT STARTS HERE
The second milestone focuses on the recommendations you have developed after reviewing the data about your selected program. You will draw on your work from Modules Three, Four, and Five.
Prompt
In this milestone, you will take the identified opportunity for improvement in the program from the case study college chart or the program you selected and develop a plan for implementing it. You will discuss specific recommendations, strategies for implementing those recommendations, and an explanation of the standards and regulations related to your recommendations. To illustrate the costs of your recommendations, you will need to submit the budget spreadsheet as part of this milestone.
Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:
- Make recommendations for how you will address the program need that you identified. What, specifically, needs to happen to help the program meet its outcomes and meet institutional goals and objectives? Include a budget sheet to illustrate the costs of your recommendations.
- Develop strategies to implement the recommendations. Be sure to cite relevant sources to support your strategies. Consider which best practice methodologies exist that support your approach to addressing this type of program.
- Explain which regulatory and accreditation standards helped drive your recommendations. In other words, how have particular standards informed your decisions regarding the trajectory of this program?
What to Submit
Your paper should be a minimum of 5 pages in length (including title and reference pages) and submitted as a Microsoft Word document with headings, double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins, and citations in APA format. Be sure to also include the budget spreadsheet as part of your milestone submission added as an attachment.
