Overview

WEEK 6 DISCUSSION

There is an old adage that says there is no such thing as a free lunch. In this case, perhaps, there is no such thing as a cost-free recommendation. In this discussion, you will share your estimated budget to implement the recommendations you made. In your initial post, be sure to do the following:

  • Restate your recommendations.
  • Use the Budget Template provided. You may add categories if you think there are other costs associated with your academic program.
  • Explain your cost inputs using the comment feature of Microsoft Excel, footnotes, or some other system to connect the numbers and the narrative. For example, what numbers went into your calculations? How do you know these numbers are accurate?
  • Attach your spreadsheet to your post or link to your spreadsheet within the text of your post (e.g., if you have used Google Sheets).
  • WEEK 7 DISCUSSION
  • Many people will be interested in your program evaluation, including individuals and organizations both internal and external to the institution that houses the academic program you evaluated. All these individuals and the departments or organizations they represent are likely to be interested in different parts of your evaluation and for different reasons.

When creating your initial post, consider using headings or creating a table to organize the information in an easy-to-read format.

In your initial post, be sure to do the following:
    • Identify at least two audiences internal to the institution and at least two audiences external to the institution who might be interested in the evaluation of your program.
    • Explain why each of these audiences would be interested in your evaluation; what is it that each of these audiences wants to know, and why?
    • WEEK 8 DISCUSSION
    • In the last module, you considered the different audiences interested in your evaluation and what information each audience is likely to be most interested in. In this discussion, you will build on this work in the last module by exploring the most appropriate ways to visualize evaluation data and the technologies that can be used to present these visuals to the different audiences you identified.

You will not actually create these visualizations; you will just discuss which ones would be most appropriate. After all, you have not implemented your recommendations or evaluated them, so you do not actually have data to visualize.

When creating your initial post, consider using headings or creating a table to organize the information in an easy-to-read format; after all, the discussion itself is about visualizing information.

In your initial post, be sure to do the following:
      • Suggest specific ways to visualize the types of information you identified as important to each of the audiences.
      • Suggest specific technologies that might be most appropriate for presenting the visuals and other program evaluation information to these different audiences.
    • WEEK 9 DISCUSSION
This course started with a discussion of alignment. In this last module before submitting your final project, you will return to a discussion of alignment of your program plan and the institution's mission, vision, and goals.

In your initial post, be sure to do the following:
      • Explain how you ensured alignment among your program plan and the institution's mission, vision, and goals.
      • Use specific examples to illustrate the alignment.
      • Identify the data sets you used to identify the opportunity for improvement that align with institution's mission, vision, and goals.
      • Ask for feedback if you are unsure about the alignment of some part of your project plan.
      • WEEK 10 DISCUSSION
Congratulations on reaching the end of the course. As you wait to review feedback on the final project submitted last week, this discussion offers an opportunity to reflect on the point of your hard work throughout the course.

In your initial post, be sure to address the following questions:
      • What is the purpose of program evaluation?
      • What was the program's level of quality? What data from your evaluation indicated this level?
      • How might your recommendations improve the program?
