Week 1 macroeconomics discussion
Introduction
What are you expecting to learn in this course? Is this different from what you were expecting BEFORE you read this week's material? Are there any specific questions you hope to be able to answer or any specific topics you hope to be more knowledgeable about when the course completes? There are no right or wrong answers to this discussion. Feel free to work through some of the rest of the Chapter 1 content before responding.
Week 1 macroeconomics assignment
Article Review
Assignment: Review the two articles and select one to summarize. These are news articles that discuss some of the principles we have learned this week in the context of real-world events. When reading the articles think about what is going on specifically about the economic forces that are in play.
Article #1 Water scarcity is becoming a business problem
Article #2 How scarcity leads to spending
Use plain language as if you were explaining it to your friend, but describe both what is happening in a practical sense as well as state and explain the relevant economic principle(s). The paper should be 1 page in length and follow APA standards.WeWe
Week 1 life science discussion Watch the video below. Then write an initial post in which you:
- Introduce yourself. For instance, what program are you in, where do you live, etc.?
- Discuss whether or not you think a virus is alive, and explain why it should be classified that way. This part of your initial post must be substantive and use outside sources in your response. You may cite the video as your outside source, but you are also free to consult other references.

Week 1 life science assignment Scientific Method Lab
In this lab, you will use common household materials to set up an experiment for practice with the scientific method.
Make sure you have on hand all of the items from the week's shopping list before you begin. You will need several hours to complete this lab, so make sure that you allow enough time.
For all labs, you will follow these directions for submission.
Open the attached file to read the procedure for the lab. Follow all the instructions carefully, answer all questions, and include a picture of the experiment.
Submission Method: Complete answers in the attached assignment file and submit them as a .docx file.
Grading: 100 Points
Rubric: Viewable in the assignment details
Week 1 Midweek Assignment: Scientific Method
Developing Hypotheses and Performing Experiments
Materials
• Ice cube trayor 5 containers or cups for freezing liquids
• Timer
• 5of any of the following liquids: tap water, salt water, sparkling water (without sugar), cola, rubbing alcohol, soap (hand or dish), juice, milk, syrup, cooking oil
• Freezer
• 5plates, cups, or bowls
• Camera (can use webcam, smartphone, etc)
Procedure
1. To make salt water, dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt into 1/8 cup of water. (You may have to heat the water to get the salt to fully dissolve).
2. Add each of the liquids listed above in the materials list to an ice cube tray or five containers. You only need one cube for each liquid. There should be the same amount of liquid in each cube or container.
3. Once you have filled the ice tray or containers, place them into the freezer.
4. Complete your hypothesis on the next page.
5. Each liquid needs to be completely frozen before you perform the next steps.
6. Empty your frozen cubes into your designated plates, cups, or bowls. Each cube should be in a different container.
7. Get a piece of paper and write your name and UAG student ID on it. Place the paper next to the cubes. Then take a picture of the frozen cubes with the paper clearly showing.
8. Start your timer and determine how long it takes for each of your cubes to melt.
9. Complete the Data Table below, insert or paste the picture you took of the frozen cubes, andanswer the questions.
10. Then save the document and submit it.
Hypothesis
Which substance do you think will melt the fastest? Why?
Which substance do you think will take the longest to melt? Why?
Data Table
Liquid Tested | Time to Melt (Provide unit of time here or in table) | Order of Melting (with fastest ranked 1) |
Evidence
Insert the picture you took of your frozen cubes. Make sure the picture includes a piece of paper with your name and UAG student number.
Conclusions(Write in complete sentences.)
1. Were your hypotheses correct? Explain.
2. Were there any results that surprised you? Why or why not?
3. What would you need to do to determine if your results are reliable? Explain.
