Business Question

Part 1 Instructions

For your Signature Assignment, utilize your learning from the course to develop your business model for the 21st Century.

You want to cover the following points to create your business model:

  • The business model.
  • Business responsibilities (Legal, ethical and social).
    • Team focus.
    • Communication.
    • Technology.
    • Current trends.
    • Future vision or goals of business.

As you reflect upon the model, develop a visual representation. A model demonstrates the priorities of a business and can be a designed shape, such as a cube, a pillar structure, or another visual approach. The model will show how the business includes all topics from the class into action or a business vision. This assignment will demonstrate knowledge, critical thinking, and leadership. Describe each part of the model, as listed above.

Each bullet point should cover 1 page with 12 point font and double-spacing. This does not include visuals. You will cite all your sources in APA 7, ensure correct formatting, and include visual representations where appropriate.

Once you complete Part 1, it is time to move to Part 2.

References: Include a minimum of 7 references.

Now that your business plan from Part 1 is complete, you will utilize Google LM to challenge the content of your business plan. This will include “prompting” Google LM to challenge your plan with the persona of a consultant or devil's advocate. You need to structure this approach into three distinct phases: Business Plan Development (completed in Part 1 of the Signature Assignment), LM Persona & Prompting, and Reflection & Revision.

    Phase 1: Strategic Plan Development

Task: Create a Google LM account.

Step 1. Create a Google Notebook LM account by following this tutorial: https://sites.google.com/view/notebook-lm/tutorial

Step 2. Open NotebookLM (screenshot 1) — Go to notebooklm.google.com. If you’re already signed into a Google account you’ll land on the NotebookLM home page. Action: confirm your Google profile icon shows at the top-right.

Welcome / Create your first notebook (screenshot 1)— On first use you’ll see a “Create your first notebook” area with a Create button. Action: click Create to start a new notebook.

Add sources (screenshot 2 / middle images) — A pop-up lets you Upload a source (PDF, DOCX, URLs, YouTube, etc.) or Paste text. NotebookLM uses those uploaded sources to power the notebook’s AI responses. Action: click Upload a source → choose files or paste text → click Insert / Add.

Notebook editing / chat view (screenshot 2) — After creating a notebook and adding sources you’ll see the central notebook view: left sidebar of notes/sources, center content (AI chat + generated summaries), and right panel for quick actions (Audio Overview, Briefs, FAQs). Action: use the chat box at the bottom to ask detailed questions about uploaded sources; try “Summarize this PDF” or “Create an FAQ”.

Formats & features — You can generate: summaries, FAQs, briefing docs, audio overviews and (in Plus/One AI tiers) deeper analytics or longer processing limits. Action: experiment with Brief, Audio Overview, or Mind Map options shown in the UI.

Phase 2: Upload Relevant Documents to Analyze Your Business Plan

This step includes uploading all source materials from the course and your additional research over the last four weeks.

    1. Convert all written documents to PDFs and upload to Google Notebook LM.
    1. On the left hand side of Notebook LM, there is a button titled “+ Add.” Utilize that button to add any relevant files, links, and text if you need to add additional content after the initial creation of your Notebook.
    1. Finally, if you have not already done so, upload your business plan to Notebook LM.

Phase 3: Google LM Persona & Prompting Strategy to Analyze the Business Plan

The core strategy involves using multi-stage prompting to establish a consistent, critical persona based on concepts of strategic analysis and risk assessment taught in this course.

The course notes that Artificial Intelligence is expanding its capacity and scope of work, impacting financial information and analytics, and providing coaching to organizational leaders for topics including the business plan.

Suggested Prompts and Instructions for you to utilize in Google Notebook LM:

    1. Define the Consultant Persona (The Set-up Prompt)

You must first define the parameters of the LM. This ensures the feedback is focused on professional, critical evaluation, mirroring tools like SWOT analysisor Pestle Analysis (frameworks used to identify areas for improvement and organizational position).

Student Instruction: Use the following structure to establish the Google LM as a highly critical strategic consultant.

Prompt 1 (Persona Definition): "You are a highly experienced, skeptical management consultant specializing in 21st-century business strategy, known for anticipating risks and challenging unrealistic assumptions. Your goal is to act as a devil's advocateand identify the top five vulnerabilities, critical omissions, or flawed assumptions within the strategic plan provided below. Focus your critique specifically on:

    1. Lack of operational agility (Week 1 concept: Flexibility of business systems).
    2. Failure to account for unforeseen crises (Week 2 & 3 concept: Economic instability, social unrest, and health concerns).
    3. Insufficient depth in legal/ethical accountability (Week 2 concept: Going beyond basic compliance).
    4. Misinterpretation of a fad as a long-term trend(Week 3 concept: Distinguishing trends vs. fads).
    5. Technology investments that are costly or quickly outdated (Week 3 concept: Technology challenges)."
    6. Input the Strategic Plan

You will provide your complete strategic plan to the configured consultant persona if you have not already done so in Phase 2.

Prompt 2 (Critique Request): [Insert your complete strategic plan text here]. "Based on this strategic plan, analyze the document using the critical parameters defined in Prompt 1. Provide a detailed, point-by-point critique focusing on the vulnerabilities, critical omissions, and flawed assumptions."

    3. Targeted Challenge Prompts (Optional but Highly Recommended)

To ensure the critique hits specific learning outcomes, you should instruct Notebook LM to run additionaltargeted prompts if the initial critique is too general. This forces a deeper examination of the plan's components.

    • To Challenge the Business Plan: "Regarding the proposed Business Plan, what critical weaknesses could a major competitor exploit given the current volatile market conditions (Week 4: Business plan evolution due to market changes)?"
    • To Challenge Social Responsibility/Ethics: "If this business faced a major public relations crisis, how would the current commitments to Legal, Ethical, and Social Responsibilities fail to protect the company's reputation or consumer trust?"
    • To Challenge Technology/Trends: "Assume the primary Current Trend identified is actually a short-lived fad (Week 3 concept). How would this invalidate the proposed Technologyinfrastructure, leading to excessive costs and rapid obsolescence (Week 3 concept)?"
    • To Challenge Team Structure/Communication:"The reliance on virtual teams is a major part of this plan. Identify the potential organizational obstacles (e.g., communication breakdown, failure to align with goals) that could arise and propose a specific framework or system (Week 1 concept: Business systems/frameworks) to track and mitigate these risks."

Phase 4: Reflection and Revision (The Deliverable)

The final deliverable should synthesize your strategic plan, the LM feedback, and your analytical response, demonstrating the critical thinking and conceptual knowledge required for exemplary performance.

    Deliverable Components:

    1. The Business Plan: Your original plan addressing the seven required components.
    2. LM Consultation Transcript: A documented record of the conversation with the Google LM consultant (including the setup prompt and the critique).
    3. Critical Reflection and Revision Plan: This is the most important part. You will analyze the LM's feedback and determine appropriate changes.
      • The reflection should address: Which challenges raised by the LM consultant were valid based on the course concepts? Which ones were invalid or exaggerated, and why?
      • You must then propose specific revisionsto your original strategic plan based on the LM's critique, ensuring these revisions incorporate robust solutions drawn from the course material (examples might be incorporating a specific strategic framework like SWOTor Porter’s Five Forces, or outlining a plan for agile networks of teams).
    4. References: Include a minimum number of scholarly resources, following APA guidelines, to support both the initial plan and the revisions (as required in previous assignments).

This structured approach requires you to not only create a synthesis of the course material but also engage in a simulated strategic review, utilizing the concept of AI as a strategy coach, thereby maximizing the critical evaluation inherent in the devil's advocate role. You also need to properly cite your use of Google LM in APA 7 formatting.

Ultimately, you will submit your original business plan, the LM Consultation Transcript, and the Critical Reflection and Revision Plan in one document to your professor. Clearly identify the three different sections of the paper.
