As you know by now, embarking on a doctoral journey is a profound academic pursuit that demands not only dedication but also a robust set of competencies and skills. Walden University has established a guiding framework outlining seven essential competencies vital for triumphing in your doctoral capstone and beyond. These competencies serve as pillars, supporting your growth as a scholar-practitioner, a leader in your field, and a contributor to meaningful change.
As you continue on your doctoral journey, it is crucial to continue to strengthen the competencies required to succeed. To aid you on this path, you will delve into valuable resources that promise to enhance your knowledge and skills in two of these seven competency areas. This assignment will help you develop a richer understanding of your competencies and the tools you will acquire to develop them.

To prepare for this Assignment:
- Review the Learning Resources.
- Select two of the seven doctoral competency areas from the Keys to Success: Doctoral Competency Areas resource.
- Search the Walden Library for at least one scholarly source to support each of your two selected areas.
Submit a 2- to 4-page appraisal in which you:
- Identify the two competency areas you selected. Explain why you chose each one, including why these competency areas could be important for the topic(s) you chose in this week’s Discussion.
- Describe how you will use the sources that you located to develop those competencies.
- Appraise which of the other competencies you feel are essential to completing your doctoral journey.
