Instructions
Read the case below and carefully analyze it by investigating the three to five business problems
or issues that the case presents. Also examine the alternative solutions and propose the most
effective solution and recommendation per problem/issue identified. The use of supporting
evidence is required throughout your work. The guidelines we used in class for Case Analysis
still apply here. Your final work must have the following sections: an introduction, background,
problems/issues, alternatives, solutions, recommendations and a conclusion.
You shall be evaluated for quality of ideas, clarity of thought/writing, presentation of arguments,
and evidential support from literature. Your work is expected to be error free and written in
excellent English. Seventy percent of cited work MUST be either journal articles (primarily) or
academic books. Make sure to save PDF copies of all your referenced articles and upload them
to Canvas together with your Written Analysis paper when you submit your final work.
Your final write-up should be no less than 8-10 pages long (single line spacing) or 10-15 pages
(double-spacing) excluding a proper cover page and a reference pages. All citations and
references should be in APA style.
Also attach your answer to the Case Questions after the Reference section. A detailed
response to each question is required. Do NOT answer the questions in the Case. Instead,
answer the Case Questions below.
Submit your completed work on Canvas by 11:59 a.m. (NOT midnight) on Tuesday, May
5, 2026, in the appropriate submission folder on Canvas.
The Case Analysis will constitute 70% of the grade while the answers to the Case Questions will
make up the remaining 30% of your final grade. Again, answer the Case questions located
below on this sheet, and NOT the one at the end of the Case.
Case:
NMU Online Campus: A Case of Digital Transformation in Higher Education (Ngafeeson,
2022)
Case Summary
This case study examines Northern Michigan University’s (NMU) evolutionary transition from
face-to-face teaching and learning to an online format. It explores the factors that contributed to,
and leading up to the university’s online campus initiative. It also describes how NMU’s online
preparedness is tested, in real-time, by the Covid-19 global pandemic shutdowns. It also recounts
how the faculty and students were given two business days and a weekend to go completely
virtual. Probably more significantly, it highlights the importance of incorporating digital
transformation as a part of the overall digital strategy for the organization.
