Overview
In an ever-changing business landscape, leaders are expected to make ethical decisions that consider multiple points of view. To assess your understanding of ethics, communication, organizational culture, and stakeholder impact, you are asked to assume the role of a new leader and discuss how to manage team dynamics and organizational changes while making ethical decisions based on the given scenarios.
Scenario 1:
You have recently become the supervisor of a customer service team at a growing company. Over the past month, customer complaints have increased due to slow response times and inconsistent information being given to customers. Experienced team members are frustrated and placing blame on newer employees, while newer staff feel unsupported and hesitant to ask questions. Company leadership is demanding quick improvements, but the team is already experiencing burnout and low morale.
Scenario 2:
Leadership at a waste disposal company selects protective gear that meets the minimum legal standards but is known to wear out quickly and provide less protection. This change in gear could lead to spills in the community and delays in customer service time. As discussions progress, you notice that some leaders seem focused solely on the financial benefits of the change in gear, while others appear uneasy and hesitant to speak up. Several employees have shared concerns, but those employees fear being labeled as resistant to change. As a leader, you recognize the need to consider both the ethical implications and the impact on your team.
Your submission must represent your original work and understanding of the course material. Most performance assessment submissions are automatically scanned through the WGU similarity checker. Students are strongly encouraged to wait for the similarity report to generate after uploading their work and then review it to ensure Academic Authenticity guidelines are met before submitting the file for evaluation. See Understanding Similarity Reports for more information. Grammarly Note: Professional Communication will be automatically assessed through Grammarly for Education in most performance assessments before a student submits work for evaluation. Students are strongly encouraged to review the Grammarly for Education feedback prior to submitting work for evaluation, as the overall submission will not pass without this aspect passing. See Use Grammarly for Education Effectively for more information. Microsoft Files Note: Write your paper in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) unless another Microsoft product, or pdf, is specified in the task directions. Tasks may not be submitted as cloud links, such as links to Google Docs, Google Slides, OneDrive, etc. All supporting documentation, such as screenshots and proof of experience, should be collected in a pdf file and submitted separately from the main file. For more information, please see Computer System and Technology Requirements.
