part 1: Assignment Instructions
Select one of the following sources to explore an ethical leadership situation:
Option 1 – Scholarly Article: Locate a scholarly, peer-reviewed article related to:
- ethical behavior in organizations
- moral decision-making
- social identity and ethics
- group influence on behavior
Option 2 – Leadership Case (Film, Documentary, or Real-World Event): Identify an ethical leadership situation from:
- a film or documentary
- a real organizational or leadership event
- a case involving ethical challenges, decision-making, or group pressure
Option 3 – AI-Generated Scenario or Role-Play: Use ChatGPT (or another AI tool) to:
- generate a realistic ethical leadership scenario, or
- engage in a short role-play interaction (3–5 exchanges)
- You may include a brief excerpt or summary of the interaction.
Regardless of the option selected, your response should focus on applying social psychology concepts to understand the situation and inform leadership decision-making.
Structured Response (3 Well-Developed Paragraphs)
👉 Paragraph 1 – Leadership Situation
Describe a real or realistic leadership situation involving an ethical challenge.
- What is happening?
- What makes the situation complex?
- How might identity, pressure, or group dynamics influence behavior?
👉 Paragraph 2 – Insight from Research or Course Concepts
- Identify one or two key insights that help explain the situation.
- What does research or course material suggest about ethical behavior?
- How does it help explain what is happening in your scenario?
👉 Paragraph 3 – Leadership Judgment and Action
- Explain how you would respond as a leader.
- What would you do?
- How would you approach communication, decision-making, or group dynamics?
- How would you create conditions for ethical and responsible behavior?
