As the VP of Operations, utilizing your material from the Week 7 and 8 Discussion Questions, Download Week 9 Activity Template [DOCX] that examines how your company uses TQM, SQC, Six Sigma, and Lean Systems. If the company does not use one or more of these quality tools/processes, make this clear, but identify how they could use them. Provide an introduction and conclusion, and organize your analysis into the following three sections:
Section 1: Total Quality Management (TQM) Implementation
- Cost of Quality (1:10:100 Rule): Explain how the organization manages quality-related costs by addressing defects early to reduce expenses.
- Corporate TQM Philosophy: Analyze how the company incorporates the 4 of the following 7 TQM principles that you deem most important to Operations within the organization:
- Customer Focus
- Continuous Improvement
- Employee Empowerment
- Use of Quality Tools
- Product Design
- Process Management
- Managing Supplier Quality
Section 2: SPC and Six Sigma
- SPC Control Charts: Describe how the organization uses Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts to help monitor and improve operations.
- Six Sigma: Explain how the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) methodology is used for continuous improvement within the organization.
Section 3: Lean Systems
- Just-in-Time (JIT): Discuss how the company integrates the three key elements of JIT (JIT Manufacturing, TQM, and Respect for People) to streamline operations.
