Scenario
You are a human resources (HR) generalist at a start-up company. The company has a distributed workforce. Employees are either located at the company site or are 100% remote. The company recently implemented some new HR technology. It has asked different departments for feedback. A number of questions have to do with how the technology was selected.
Since you regularly participate in the technology selection process, your HR director has asked you to create a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation in response to the feedback. The presentation should focus on the process HR undertakes to select technology that supports HR and company business. You will create a presentation that can be used either in person or for a remote setting.
Directions
Create an HR Technology Selection PowerPoint presentation to explain the HR technology selection process to the company. There is a resource in the Supporting Materials section to help you with this part. Begin with the technology selection criteria for the different functions of HR. Then, focus on the importance of technology for a diverse workforce and for accessible job functioning. Next, address the importance of automated processes to HR functioning, including social media. Be certain to provide responses for a hybrid workplace, both in person and remote.
Prepare speaker notes in addition to your slide deck. There is a resource in the Supporting Materials section to help you with this part. Cite sources for ideas that are not your own.
Specifically, you must address the following:
- Describe the criteria for selecting HR technology. Include the different functions of HR in your response.
- Explain how recruitment and engagement technology can assist with diversity and accessibility for employees or potential employees.
- Describe how automated processes can affect training, recruitment, and other HR functions.
- Identify ways that social media can be used when hiring or communicating employee initiatives.
