Purpose
In this discussion post, you will enhance your understanding of the role AI can play in organizational decision-making. You will begin by identifying and reviewing a different article or case study that illustrates the use of AI in the decision-making or problem-solving process within an organization. Use well-known media resources such as The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, New York Times, or Harvard Business Review, etc. from the UMGC Library.
After reading the article or case study, you will reflect upon how AI was utilized in the decision-making or problem-solving process and reflect upon the appropriateness of AI for the decision-making or problem-solving process within the organization. Using your analytical skills, you will broaden your perspective on AI's impact on organizational leadership and the decision-making process by considering whether all decision-making processes require the use of AI.
Tasks
- Since you have reviewed a case study on how AI is used in the decision-making process in organizations, you will need to find a different article or case study that demonstrates how AI can be used in the decision-making process in a different organization, different industry, or for a different purpose.
- After you have selected your article or case study from Task 1, create an initial discussion post that does the following:
- Summarizes the use of AI in an organization in relation to a decision-making or problem-solving process and the leadership of the organization. Use well-known media resources such as The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, New York Times, or Harvard Business Review, etc. from the UMGC Library.
- Explains the factors involved when AI was used for the decision-making or problem-solving process within the organization
- Defends your opinion regarding whether AI should have been used within the organization in the decision-making or problem-solving process
- Using evidence, respond to at least two different classmates in a post that offers an:
- Alternative point of view or perspective as to how AI is being used in the decision-making or problem-solving process related to the organization
- Alternative solution for using AI in the decision-making or problem-solving process related to the organization
- Explanation about whether AI should have been used by the organization’s leadership in decision-making or problem-solving processes
- Alternative point of view or perspective concerning whether the organization’s leadership could consider using AI in decision-making or problem-solving processes
- Explains an alternative to their real-life scenario in terms of data analysis
- Explanation as to when AI is appropriate for leadership to use in decision-making or problem-solving processes related to the organization
