Scenario
You are a human resources (HR) generalist at a start-up company. As an HR generalist, you are part of the group that manages orientation for new employees. Your next new employee orientation session is for new HR employees. The new HR employees will work in a distributed work design, either at the company site or 100% remote. You will need to give both sets of new employees the same basic information about your company, and information that is specific to their role as an HR generalist.
In this project, you will create an orientation presentation that can be used either in person or remotely. You will describe the major functions of human resources and the role of a human resources professional. You will also include how job analysis, job design, and job specifications support talent acquisition and retention. Lastly, you will explain how HR adds value to an organization by supporting a culture of development, diversity, and inclusion.
Directions
Prepare a new hire orientation presentation using PowerPoint. There are resources in the Supporting Materials section of this document that can help you. There is also a presentation template in the What to Submit section. Begin with the major functions of human resources and how the human resources role supports those functions. Then, focus on strategies for talent acquisition and retention. Finally, explain how HR can add value to an organization through strategic culture support.
Prepare speaker notes in addition to your slide deck. There is a resource in the Supporting Materials section that can help you with this task. A speaker notes template is provided in the What to Submit section. Use citations for ideas that are not your own.
