COMPETENCIES
1043.11.1 : Describes Ethical Decision-Making Frameworks
The learner describes ethical decision-making frameworks as applied to technology.
1043.11.3 : Analyzes Privacy Ethics and Identity
The learner analyzes privacy ethics and identity as related to emerging technologies.
INTRODUCTION
You will choose from several topics involving emerging technologies and the potential privacy and ethical concerns associated with them. By using a generative artificial intelligence (AI), you will reflect on how the AI tool approaches the topics of your choosing, as well as the potential bias and privacy implications inherent to the use of a generative AI tool.
Note: Please note that the topics for use on this task can be found in the "Prompt List" attachment.
WGU AI and Academic Integrity Policy
REQUIREMENTS
Your submission must represent your original work and understanding of the course material. Most performance assessment submissions are automatically scanned through the WGU similarity checker. Students are strongly encouraged to wait for the similarity report to generate after uploading their work and then review it to ensure Academic Authenticity guidelines are met before submitting the file for evaluation. See Understanding Similarity Reports for more information.
Grammarly Note:
Professional Communication will be automatically assessed through Grammarly for Education in most performance assessments before a student submits work for evaluation. Students are strongly encouraged to review the Grammarly for Education feedback prior to submitting work for evaluation, as the overall submission will not pass without this aspect passing. See Use Grammarly for Education Effectively for more information.
Microsoft Files Note:
Write your paper in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) unless another Microsoft product, or pdf, is specified in the task directions. Tasks may not be submitted as cloud links, such as links to Google Docs, Google Slides, OneDrive, etc. All supporting documentation, such as screenshots and proof of experience, should be collected in a pdf file and submitted separately from the main file. For more information, please see Computer System and Technology Requirements.
Task Note:
You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.
Use the attached Prompt List to respond to this task.
A. Using an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot tool, generate a response to two of the prompts found in the topic list. Provide a copy of each generated response in your submission.
B. Use the AI-generated responses to complete the following:
1. Identify one individual privacy issue that was not accounted for in one of the AI-generated responses.
2. Apply one of the following ethical frameworks to identify one potential solution to a privacy issue in one of the AI-generated responses.
– Deontology
– Virtue ethics
– Utilitarianism
C. Apply the principles of individual ethical responsibility to complete the following:
1. Describe one strategy for both AI-generated responses from part A that an individual could take to improve their ethical use of technology.
2. Describe the steps that an individual should apply whenever they use AI to generate a response to ensure that the response is accurate and free from bias.
3. Describe how the use of generative AI tools potentially introduces additional privacy and/or ethical concerns.
D. Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.
E. Demonstrate professional communication in the content and presentation of your submission.
