Business Question

Overview

Part 1: Purpose & Ethical Climate

Briefly introduce the organization and consider:

  • What is the organization’s mission, purpose, or core ideology?
  • What values appear to guide the organization?
  • How well do the organization’s practices reflect those stated values?
  • What aspects of the organization help create a healthy, ethical climate? Where might there be opportunities for improvement?

Part 2: Code of Ethics

If the organization has an existing code of ethics, review it. Then revise the existing code or create your own concise code of ethics for the organization.

Identify 5–7 ethical principles or expectations that you believe should guide behavior and decision-making. For each, briefly explain why it matters and what it should look like in practice.

Your code might address areas such as integrity, fairness, accountability, transparency, respect, conflicts of interest, responsible use of information, relationships with stakeholders, or other issues relevant to the organization.

Part 3: Leadership in Practice

Consider the role leaders play in bringing a code of ethics to life:

  • What should leaders do to reinforce these expectations through their own behavior and decisions?
  • What is one practical step the organization could take to strengthen its ethical climate?
  • What is one leadership lesson you will take from this analysis?
