One of the most profound changes in organizations, let along societies, has been the movement towards the remote workplace and the remote world. More and more of our world is being conducted online, whether that be in business, social organizations, or personal relationships. Given that background, address the following in this discussion question:
- Using various statistics and facts, provide a brief background on the movement to the virtual/remote world. The reader should gain a perspective on how more of our world is conducting business and relationships online/remotely. For instance, percent of people using the internet, fall in number of social organizations, movement towards text messaging versus telephone conversations, etc. Those are only some of the statistics/facts to highlight how the world is becoming dominated by the online/remote phenomena.
- Using various statistics and facts, provide a brief background on the movement to the virtual/remote business world. For instance, number of employees working remotely, percent of restaurant business is take-out, percent of commercial business done online, etc. The reader should gain an understanding on the dominating force of the online/remote workplace and marketplace.
