Overview
For this assignment, you will:
- Describe and recognize curves using their parametric formulas, and compute their lengths
- Describe and recognized functions of 2 variables using their graphs and contour plots, compute limits, and verify continuity of functions of 2 variables
- Compute partial derivatives, directional derivatives, and gradients, both directly and using the chain rule and dot product method.
- Use derivatives to approximate functions and look for local/global maxima/minima using the second derivative test, Lagrange multipliers, and gradient descent.
My professor will be conducting a verbal assessment. He will pick any three of the 11 attached questions and I am required to answer verbally. This is only a 5 minute verbal assessment, so please be concise in your answers. Please answer the questions with simple explanations and a summary that I can easily memorize and explain to my professor.
