Danger of Scuba Diving & Cold Hands Discussion

Overview

Question 1 -  The Danger of Scuba Diving

review both the attached YouTube video and Literature.

What gas laws are in action while scuba diving? What are the critical environmental variables that influence your body's anatomical and physiological responses?

As part of the submission, students should hypothesize why marine animals are not as susceptible as human to such phenonmenon.

Question 2 - Injury or Cold Hands? Thermochemistry to the Rescue

Students should investigate the materials within these devices, evaluate the reaction chemistry and discuss the relevant thermochemistry aspects that make them effective for cooling or heating.

Why does the effect last for the amount of time that as it does? What alternative chemical reactions could be utilized to similar effect?
