Chemistry Question

Overview

Task #1: Mind Map

You are asked to create a mind map BY HAND for one of the units. You will take a clear photo and share it. The mind map should address all major concepts, main equations or formulas, and extra details a student would use to study for a unit test or an exam.

Is the Mind Map Presented in an organized and neat manner? (2? Com) Are the ideas, equations, and concepts that are presented thorough and relevant? (2? K/U) Are the ideas, equations, and concepts connected in a logical manner? (2? App)

Task #2: HAIKU Poem

You will write your own poem for one of the units. A Haiku  poem is a very specific style of poetry.

what’s a Haiku?

Your poem will need to reference terms/ideas/concepts from the chosen unit.  You do NOT have to include all concepts from this unit.

Does the poem follow the requirements of a Haiku Poem? (2? Com) Is the message presented in the poem representative of part (or all) the unit? ( 2? K/U) Does the message conveyed connect ideas or summarize part (or all) of the unit? (2? App)

Task #3: Solve a multi-step Problem

You will select a multi step based problem from one of the units and present a complete solution (via a recording that is a maximum of 7 minutes in length).  Your recording must include your own voice.

When recording the solution, you will demonstrate an understanding of the problem solving process by explaining each step used to get to the final solution. In addition, you will show units throughout the solution (where applicable) and express your final answer with the proper units.

Is the problem selected appropriate and is the final answer correct? (2? K/U)

Are the problem-solving steps clearly outlined and thoroughly explained? (2? T/I) Are the units/details analyzed effectively and correct in the final answer? (? Com)

Is the voice clear and easy to understand?  (? Com)

Task #4: Build a molecule (Atomic Structures)

You will select TWO compounds (one molecule and one polyatomic ion) and build a 3D model of each.  Both models should appear to follow VSEPR theory for their shape.   You need to include for each model:

  • Name of molecular and electron-pair geometry shape
  • Bond angle(s)
  • Determine if the molecule is polar or nonpolar
  • Name of molecular and electron-pair geometry shape  (2? T/I)
  • Bond angle(s)  (2? T/I)
  • Determine if the molecule is polar or nonpolar  (2? K/U)

Above is a link with everything you can use. Don't do anything which is not in the link. There is a textbook in the google drive which has questions you can use. Make sure the questions is in the units learned for Task 3.
