Brightfield Microscopy Lab

Overview

Brightfield microscopy is the simplest optical microscopy technique. Illumination light is transmitted through the sample and the contrast is generated by the interaction between light and dense areas of the specimen. The limitations of bright-field microscopy include low contrast for weakly absorbing samples and low resolution due to the blurry appearance of out-of-focus material.

In this lab, we will measure the standard sample to calibrate the pixel dimension at different magnifications. Then we will measure the size of the unknown sample.
