Chemistry Question

Overview

question 1:

Pb(C2H3O2)2 (s) + H2S (g) --> PbS (s) + HC2H3O2 (g)              [unbalanced equation]

Balance this equation, and then calculate how many grams of lead (II) sulfide form when you use 21.11 g of lead (II) acetate and excess (an unlimited amount of) H2S ?

question 2

Al (s) + Fe2O3 (s) --> Al2O3 (s) + Fe (s)   (needs balancing)

How many grams of Fe can be produced when 67.2 g of Al is reacted with an excess (unlimited) supply of Fe2O3?

question 3

Suppose you have 2.0 moles of aqueous barium chloride, and you mix this with aluminum sulfate solution.  How many moles of aluminum chloride can you produce?

______moles of aluminum chloride

Hint:  write a balanced chemical equation first.

question 4

How many grams of oxygen gas are needed to react completely with 38.442 grams of sulfur dioxide gas?

SO2(g) + O2(g) --> SO3(g)  (needs to be balanced)

For this problem, please follow the instruction:

As you watch the videos, to calculate the molar mass, we round the numbers from the periodic table, and usually that is ok.  But for problems where you have many sig figs, your molar masses from the periodic table must have at least as many sig figs as your data.  Therefore, for each oxygen atom, please use 15.9994 g/mol.  For each sulfur atom, please use 32.066 g/mol.  This is a 5-sig-fig problem, so when you calculate your molar masses, you must use all of the sig figs available to you from the periodic table.
