Overview
Why do the energy level of certain sub orbitals sometime fluctuate after being filled? For example, why does the 4s sub orbital become higher in energy after the electrons in the 3d sub orbital have been filled? I would guess that the way in which the electrons repel and move around each other after the sub orbitals have been filled have something to do with it but I'm not sure.
