Overview
Heat transfer is a process by which internal energy from one substance transfers to another substance. Thermodynamics is the study of heat transfer and the changes that result from it. An understanding of heat transfer is crucial to analyzing a thermodynamic process, such as those that take place in heat engines, chemical reactions, and even the process of heating of foodstuffs!

You and your friend won free tickets to a Futbol (soccer) match, and are really excited to go watch your favorite team win! Unfortunately, the forecast for the game is anticipated to be a frosty -5.55 °C (22 °F)! The two of you aren’t used to being outdoors in temperatures that frigidly low, so, you both devise a plan to keep warm while outside!
You both decide to wear multiple layers of warm clothes, including gloves, and you decide to purchase an insulated cup to bring along a hot drink to sip on. The cup that you’re interested in costs $38 USD (which is a lot of money for a teenager to spend on one cup)! Your friend believes you are crazy for wanting to buy such an expensive cup, when they believe that because it’s so cold outside, the drink will get cold quickly anyway, so you might as well use a paper one from home!
For this assignment, you are tasked with explaining to your friend using both words and images/diagrams WHY the insulated cup may very well keep your beverage warm, even when it is in a cold environment. Within your written response, you must use the following vocabulary words, in the correct scientific context, to explain to your friend the scientific technology of the insulated cup: insulation/insulator, temperature, heat transfer, and convection. Lastly, you must also develop a diagram that shows how those vocabulary words apply to the construction of the insulated cup.
You can use this website to draw the diagram if you'd like:
