The concern about a potential link between Thiomersal containing vaccines and autism.

Overview

A mercury-containing preservative called Thiomersal was used to prevent bacterial and fungal contamination in vaccines from the 1930s until its use was phased out starting in 1999. In the United States, a widespread concern arose that these vaccines caused autism. There was no such concern in the United Kingdom, although the vaccine with the same preservative was used there. Is the problem valid? Explain your point of view, and support your opinion with academic resources.
